Wavelength Services

Wavelength Services allow Belgacom ICS to provide high-capacity point-to-point connectivity transparently and independently of the upper protocol to be transported. This enables carriers and businesses to focus on planning, maintaining and operating their high capacity network without the needs of worrying about fibre infrastructure.

Available speeds are 2,5 Gbps and 10 Gbps. Soon, 40 Gbps circuits will also be available. Wavelengths can be provided between any 2 cities using local loops from partners when necessary.

Thanks to Belgacom ICS’ extensive Pan-European WDM infrastructure, diverse routing can be provided on either the long haul section or on the local part via the City Rings. Access to the customer sites can be, as per customer needs, diverse and redundant in order to create customer ring structures to increase its reliability and availability. By using multiple point-to-point wavelengths and diverse access, a fully resilient ring configuration can be provided. The single point-to-point connections reliability can be also improved by duplicating the signal in our backbone thanks to optical protection mechanisms.

With the use of the last optical networking technology (ROADM technology - Reconfigurable Optical Add & Drop Multiplexer) additional services including rerouting, upgrades and restoration are provided to give full flexibility to our customers. Advantages are reduced lead time of implementation, reduced cost of implementation and minimised service downtime.

Transparent transport

Interfaces and speeds supported are STM16/OC-48 (2,5 Gbps), STM64/OC-192 (10 Gbps) and STM256/OC-768 (40 Gbps)

Service 10Gbps Ethernet LAN PHY and WAN PHY is available. Thanks to our NG-DWDM, 10Gbps Ethernet services are configurable remotely by software on the same card from 10Gbps (SDH frame) to 10Gbps Ethernet or vice versa with a minimum service impact

A 24/7 Proactive Fault Management with a fully redundant and multilingual Network Management Centre is ensuring the quality. Troubles can be reported via customer call and by e-mail. In agreement with the customer, Belgacom ICS' INMC will regularly inform the customer by telephone about the evolution of the situation and a 3 levels escalation matrix is in place.

Belgacom ICS’ International Network Management Centre (INMC) monitors the backbone and the capacity services.
